Dee Chaplin
For over 25 years, Dee Chaplin’s customers have valued her direct, honest approach. Her successful career of absentee owner second home management and real estate brokerage is due to the wealth of knowledge and extensive network of personal contacts she’s developed over the years.
Virtually all of Dee’s adult life she has been involved in some facet of our island’s real estate treasures. Originally from Texas, Dee moved to Amelia Island in 1975. Her well-rounded local knowledge began with working on Amelia Island Plantation in reservations, the tennis pro shop, and accounting. She then joined the Dunes Club Company for fourteen years, developing oceanfront condominiums and the small community of Little Dunes. Recognizing the need in the market, she and her husband, Davis Chaplin, founded Chaplin Property Management to meet the needs of absentee second home owners. Finally, she and her business partner Hugh Williams opened Chaplin Williams Real Estate in 1998, and in 2004 they became Prudential Chaplin Williams Realty, and are now Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chaplin Williams Realty.
Dee gives back to the island she loves in many ways. She is a current member and has served twice as President of both the Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach Restoration Foundation and the Amelia Island Nassau County Association of Realtors. She also lends her support to those political candidates that believe in protecting the rights of property and business owners. Her enthusiasm and can-do attitude are evident in all she undertakes.
In addition to her place of respect in the local business community, Dee’s loyalty, sense of humor and personal warmth has gained her a loving circle of family and friends. She and Davis have a blended family with a son and daughter as well as three grandchildren in the greater Atlanta area (Buckhead). Davis’s family also has historic ties to Fernandina, going back over 150 years. Her son, Cameron and his wife, Laura and sons Sam and Walker now live in Fernandina Beach. Cameron works with Dee in real estate and manages the vacation rental company Amelia Island Rentals.
Dee is an enthusiastic advocate of Amelia Island. She says, “We live on a small, wonderful island. Becoming part of the community is as simple as deciding your passion, approaching the group or forming a group with the same ideals, and volunteering your time and energy. I invite you to call or stop by and let us show you how you can be a part of this paradise we call home.”
