Summer Beach is a lovely collection of more than a dozen communities of villas, condominiums and homes that stretch from the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway (South Amelia River). Most of the neighborhoods lie clustered like jewels along the live-oak canopy of Amelia Island Parkway. Also at the heart of its Atlantic frontage are the Ritz Carlton Hotel, and the country club that serves the hotel and residents of Summer Beach, The Golf Club of Amelia Island. Beautiful homes front the golf course in the communities of Golfside North and Golfside South. On the southern portion of Amelia Island, Summer Beach has many full-time residents as well as an active resort program. There are tennis courts, pools, and dining facilities as well as convenient shopping. Beach combing, surf fishing, and castles in the sand are always at hand. One of the special features of Summer Beach is that all its individual neighborhoods offer the privacy and security of their own, gated access. Two of the more unusual communities within Summer Beach are Carlton Dunes and Riverplace. Carlton Dunes are a group of seven buildings of impeccably detailed oceanfront villas, 3100 square feet each with only two per floor, beginning in price just under $2,000,000. Riverplace is a collection of 22 townhomes with breathtaking sunset river views, private boat access, and over 3200 square feet. Details include private elevators in every townhome, and prices start just under $1,000,000. However, for the more modest budget, the popular Sailmaker Condominiums begin at less than $400,000. |
